The Ordinary People of Nahr El Bared

Please listen carefully to what the people in this New York Times video have to say.It is sad and heart wrenching and if it doesn't bring a tear to your eyes then your heart is made of stone.

This is not about Fateh el Islam or Hamas or Fatah or the twisted Machiavellian politics of Lebanon and our forlorn region as a whole. It is not about delusional, destructive ideologies that leave nothing but ruin in their wake. It is not about Syrian complicity, Saudi duplicity or American stupidity.

It is about ordinary people, trying to live dignified lives under impossible circumstances. Although the cirumstances are particularly tragic for these second and third generation refugees, it is unfortunately not unique in our region. Ordinary civilians seem to be a dispensable commodity to be used -abused- both by sworn enemies and by those who have sworn to protect them.
