Raoui

Algerian singer Souad Massi is one of my favorite female vocalists. Her smooth silky voice is like a soothing balm for all that ails you. Her voice warms you up like a cup of steaming hot, sweet, Magherbian mint tea; better than any synthetic drug- legal or otherwise. But she is more than just a beautiful voice. Her music is highly original, melding together many musical traditions but never too far from her Algerian roots.

Raoui (Storyteller) is one of my favorite Massi song. Listen to the lyrics.

It's quite a nice song. I've just finished my coursework at 3am here and it's nice to listen to something soothing and to reflect on.

Ya Wassim, you are working too hard. Glad to have provided you with a way to unwind at the end of your long day.

Abu Kareem,
Thanks for the post. She is really has a smooth voice and at least she has that sound quality in addition to good lyrics and a vocal away from the drum “ tableh” and trash music which still dominate the East atmosphere and their radio stations.

The Arabic Algerian accent is not easy thing to decipher even for someone like me who think has intermingled with brothers from Algeria.
Here the lyric of the song, written originally from left to right, but straighen after two copies, I wish you can added to the main post.
btw, what the meaning of حانجيتك كمانجيت

راوي - Souad Massi

Saint,

Thank you for the lyrics. I had to listen to the song severral times before I understood most of the lyrics; but even if you don't understand every word, you get the jist of it. I am afraid I can't add it to the post thoug. If I try to add anything to this post with the You Tube video, I lose the video and I will have to do it all over again.

My daughter introduced me to Souad Massi.. I have a couple of her albums on my iPod, and her voice is always a refuge from my busy, hectic, and often messy daily existence.. 'Raoui' is one of my favourite songs, too.. Thanks for reminding us all of her delightfully warm and smooth voice..(and for reminding me, yet again, how similar our tastes, and ways of thinking, seem to be!..)
